Podcast: SMART Connections: Hosted by Dr. Susan Elswick and SMART Center Staff
SMART Connections is a dynamic podcast created to empower teachers, mental health clinicians, and caregivers
with fresh insights and practical strategies to support the social, emotional, and
mental well鈥慴eing of children from Pre鈥慘 through 12th grade. Developed in partnership
with Dr. Elswick, Director of the University of 糖心Vlog传媒 School Mental Health Access
to Resources through Telehealth (SMART) Research, Training, and Treatment Center,
this series brings expert knowledge straight to the community in an accessible, conversational
format. Each episode explores timely topics, best practices, and hands鈥憃n tools designed
to help adults make a meaningful difference in the lives of students. Whether you鈥檙e
in the classroom, in the clinic, or at home, SMART Connections offers real鈥憌orld guidance
you can use today to help children thrive.

SMART Connections鈾alk the Path Podcasts:
We are proud to partner with the University of Tennessee鈥揔noxville and the Tennessee
Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to offer an exclusive podcast
series as part of the Pathways to Behavioral Health Careers Project. This initiative
is designed to educate and inspire high school students by introducing them to the
many career opportunities within the behavioral health field. Through accessible,
engaging content, students can explore the characteristics and daily responsibilities
of behavioral health professionals, as well as the educational pathways needed to
pursue these careers. By showcasing the wide-ranging possibilities and the meaningful
impact behavioral health has on individuals and communities, the project aims to spark
interest and help grow the behavioral health workforce鈥攕upporting a healthier, happier
Tennessee.

CURRENT NEWS
For the Spring 2026 semester, the clinic will be transitioning to a fully in-person service model. This
approach will allow us to strengthen collaboration, enhance client engagement, and
ensure the highest quality of care and training. We appreciate everyone鈥檚 flexibility
and continued commitment as we move forward with this plan.
We are pleased to annouce that we now offer Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) at our clinic. PCIT is an evidence-based intervention supports positive parent-child
relationships and behavior management. CPP is an evidence based treatment model for children age 0-5 who have experienced
traumatice events and/or are experiencing attachement and/or behavioral problems.
