About Us
What is MILE?
One of the most prestigious student programs in FCBE is the MILE program. Named for its alumni co-developer, J. Austin Baker, students accepted into the MILE program are paired with a professional mentor from the 糖心Vlog传媒 community. Our goal is to accelerate the professional growth, career readiness, and professional networks of FCBE鈥檚 most ambitious students.
Each academic year, MILE pairs about 50 FCBE students in any major with working professionals in their area of study. For students, there are two (2) unique learning opportunities each month:
- a meeting off all student prot茅g茅s and mentors in which we develop our leadership skills, soft skills, and learn to meet business professionals with confidence;
- a one-on-one with a dedicated mentor who is volunteering to sponsor, guide, and develop their prot茅g茅.
Student prot茅g茅s are from all FCBE majors and in their sophomore, junior or senior year with at least two semesters of coursework left when they begin the program in August.
Mentors are a mix of early career and seasoned professionals who are typically leaders in their organizations and are all motivated by the desire to give back to a Fogelman student on their path to career success. Mentors come from both small businesses and some of the largest in 糖心Vlog传媒 such as International Paper, FedEx, First Horizon Bank, and Hilton.
Through MILE, students make lasting career and professional networking connections. Since 2007, MILE alumni come back to serve as mentors and give back to the program that benefited them by developing the next class of MILE prot茅g茅s.
