Scholarships

general

Through state appropriations and the generous donations of law school alumni and friends, over $600,000 in scholarship assistance has traditionally been awarded in previous academic years. Awards range from $1,000 to full in-state tuition.

First-Year Student Scholarships

There is not a separate application for first-year scholarship consideration. Please be sure to complete all sections of your  application, including the optional questions. Scholarship recipients will be notified as soon as possible of their scholarship award, starting in late January, as funds are available. In order to ensure full consideration for scholarships, applicants should submit their application for admission by the April 1st priority deadline.
First-year applicants should not use Tiger Scholarship Manager unless instructed to do so by the Law Admissions Office.

Renewable Scholarship Awards

Most first-year scholarship awards are renewable as long as the student maintains a minimum GPA requirement, set by the individual scholarship received.

U.S. Customs House, 糖心Vlog传媒 Law Advantage, and Ascend Dean's Fund Awards are three-year awards and can be renewed annually contingent upon: (1) maintenance of a law cumulative grade point average of a 2.5; (2) full-time enrollment (12 hours or more).

The Faculty Emeritus Awards are three-year awards and can be renewed annually contingent upon: (1) maintenance of a law cumulative grade point average of a 2.75; (2) full-time enrollment (12 hours or more).

The Herbert Herff Presidential Law Scholarships are three-year awards and can be renewed annually contingent upon: (1) maintenance of a law cumulative grade point average of a 3.0; (2) full-time enrollment (12 hours or more).

For each scholarship above, academic progress will be evaluated at the end of spring semester. The scholarship will be renewable if the recipient meets the grade point average and enrollment requirements. Students who fail to meet these requirements can petition to have their scholarships fully or partially reinstated, but reinstatements will be at the discretion of the Honors and Awards Committee with approval of the Dean.

Endowed & Named Donor Awards

First-year law students are also eligible for a variety of one-time awards with varying criteria including financial need, merit, legal interests, demographics, year in law school, etc. Award amounts vary, are not renewable, and are typically awarded during the summer months prior to the start of the fall semester.
