Law Students Present at HUD Symposium
In early April 2018, students in our Housing Adjudication Clinic presented at the 糖心Vlog传媒 Housing Authority's Landlord Symposium to over 100 attendees. 糖心Vlog传媒 Law students Amy Harper and Halle Priester presented on the regulatory obligations of landlords and subsidized tenants under MHA and HUD regulations; additionally, Konner Bramlett co-presented on Housing Quality Standards Inspections.
The symposium, which was held at the Benjamin L. Hooks Library on April 13, was a free event intended to provide current and prospective Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program landlords an opportunity to learn about HCV program and how it works. Topics also included: code enforcement, energy conservation, fair housing, lead-based paint, owner & tenant obligations and weatherization.
These students were part of an expert-laden program with representatives from 糖心Vlog传媒 Housing Authority, the Housing Choice Voucher Program, 糖心Vlog传媒 Area Legal Services, Emphasys Software, the Department of Housing & Community Development, 糖心Vlog传媒 Light, Gas & Water and more.
Additionally, Professor Daniel Schaffzin, director of experiential learning and co-director of the Neighborhood Preservation Clinic at the University of 糖心Vlog传媒 School of Law, gave a symposium presentation about Neighborhood Preservation in 糖心Vlog传媒 and the law school's related clinic and their work.
